SPEECH Baby blessing

Updated: Feb 11, 2020

BRIEF - short speech for a Father to announce a newborn baby‘s name to family and friends

This time last week our two became three. The most special day of our lives. Since then we have been more in awe, more in love and more exhausted than ever before! Today, we’re here for the most important day of our lives. To welcome our little man as one of us.

Family has been central to everything for Alexandra and I since we were born and we are very excited to give our baby boy the love, laughter, security and spirituality we’ve each enjoyed with our families both growing up and together since we married.

For this reason, family is central to the name we have given our boy. In Sephardi tradition, a child can be named in honour of a living relative. We have taken the Z from my Dad ‘Zamir’, to name our son Zev. We hope he shares his tenacity, strength, ambition and generosity.

And with our Ashkenazi blood, we draw on our heritage. We are giving our son the middle name ‘Lubin’. This was Vicki’s maiden name which originated from her great grandparents’ hometown in Poland - we want to retain the spirit of generations who cherished Judaism no matter where they were or what the world threw at them.

So today, we really are here for the most important day of our lives. To welcome our little man as one of us. Family and friends, we hope you will all play a special role in our son’s life.

Zev Lubin Mosafi is looking forward to getting to know all of you as he grows up.
