BRIEF - Five minute Bar Mitzvah boy party speech
Good evening to all my family and friends.
Thank you all so very much for being here to celebrate this milestone. Oh what a night!
In fact, what a weekend. We are just getting the party started and it’s already a Thriller.
As the youngest in my year, I am one of the last of my friends to be bar mitzvah. Which means I’ve been to a lot of these gigs. And been given a lot of advice on my speech. I was told to be myself, Come as you are, and most importantly, Relax. But not to talk All night long.
I’ve spent two years studying for this weekend. I’ve literally been Livin’ on a prayer and learnt so much. Yesterday, when I was in synagogue, I realised Nothing else matters so I want to say a massive thank you to my teacher, Samuel. His advice: Don’t stop believing.
I am blessed to have four wonderful, humble grandparents who play such a huge part in my life. Your dedication to charity and to all our family is amazing. Nothing compares 2 u and I love you all very much.
Grandma - There’s not much in life that I enjoy more than your home grown apple crumble. Except maybe your roast potatoes for a Friday night dinner.
Grandpa - Our annual mini breaks, just the two of us, are honestly really special. They kind of make up for the whole Arsenal thing...
Nana - You always inspire me to be a better person. And you inspire me on the tennis court. If we weren’t decades apart we could play mixed doubles…
Papa - I love that we both love the WWE and, with your all your army experience, you’d definitely take me in a fight! I also love our time together eating Churros Spain - it’s a giant part of my life.
As the eldest of my five first cousins, it is great to have them all here tonight. Hey Jude!
To my brothers:
No music story would be complete without siblings in a band. AC/DC. Oasis. The Cheeky Girls. If we three MaCarthy men were to go on tour, Jay would rehearse all night and Simon would smash up our hotel room.
Jay, you are a great perfectionist, an amazing performer and you have perfect attention to detail. I know you really want to be like me, keep trying and maybe you will get there...
Simon, you are the loudest little brother I’ve ever known and you rock. Seriously cool and all my friends love playing with you when they come round.
I am blown away by how far people have travelled to be here with me. Thank you to you all for making the trip from Spain, Israel, America &... Wales.
Freddie, Ben, Josh, Mikey, Natan, Alex & James. School has started again so The boys are back in town. But sadly not Croydon Town. You guys make the pain of going to school worthwhile
Jacob, Josh, Rudy, Jamie, Mia and Libby. Friends since we were babies, you know you can always Lean on me.
Mum and Dad:
Back in 2006, life as you knew it changed forever. I was born. Born to be wild. Your firstborn, your Pride and Joy. But now I’ve turned thirteen, I smell like teen spirit and I want to break free. Only joking!
Mum. Your spiritual home is Liberties. But your secret is safe with me - I promise Dad still thinks that you only go when the sales are on.
Dad. Your spiritual home is any stadium. Football or metal concert. But your secret is safe with me - I promise Mum thinks that you took me to Moscow, Madrid, Paris and Twickenham for work meetings…
Together, you are pretty cool parents. I love seeing the world with you - on adventurous holidays far and wide.
Thank you for always giving me the opportunities to be the best I can be. You guide me with all my decisions and are always there to tell me what you think. And let me ignore that. Sometimes. I’ve got a Whole Lotta Love for you both and can’t wait for many more great times.
Family and friends, in case I don’t get to shake hands with each and every one of you at the end of the night, please know that I’ve honestly shared the best weekend of my life with you all. It’s now time for you to fight for your right to party.
